Fun Stuff

Another goal of mine this year is to give my clients more options in terms of what to do with their pictures.  Even if it requires a proofing consultation or visit to their home to suggest display ideas.  Aside from Gallery Wrapped Canvases (which are stunning and worth every penny!), Collages & Albums, I can do Shadow Boxes or framed prints matted with fun designs.  These would also look great on display as a Gallery Mount (wood mount with a beveled edge) with three different coordinating designs...hung with ribbon, leaned on a mantel shelf, or in a picture easel.

Simple Tips & Tricks

In this digital age, everyone is becoming a better photographer because it doesn't cost us anything to practice!  So I thought I'd also use this blog to post Simple Tips & Tricks for the amateur photogs out there (i.e. parents:) of how to take better pictures of your kids.  We all like to document our kid's lives day in and day out, but are you often disappointed about how tricky it can be to capture the beauty and emotion of the event with your camera?  Especially with little ones who don't slow down long enough to accommodate you!

I'll try to use some examples of my own kids that aren't an attempt at "professional" portrait taking, but rather me just trying to document what we're doing in the every day.

TIP #1  Get CLOSER
Oftentimes it's all the stuff that makes it into the picture around your person that detracts and distracts from your picture.  When you get closer or zoom in enough to eliminate extraneous stuff, your subject becomes just that...the main character in a story.  Even if it's a kids sporting event, you don't need the whole soccer field and all it's players to tell that it's a soccer game.  In fact, you'll miss the intimate details of their expression, determination, the texture and color of the grass and the fact that they're in motion if you're zoomed way out.  Think about getting some tighter shots to help tell the story of your kid's lives and see how that works for you!

The "P" Kids Winter Session

This is the cutest family...I was so thrilled to have a session with them again so soon!
This shoot was for 6mo portraits of the littlest guy, but we were surprised with a fresh blanket of snow this morning, so we opted to head outside for a few of all of them.  After the baby took a nose dive into the icy powder, we decided indoor portraits were more suited to him for now:)
I love these kids...they remind me of my three!

Finally, A blog!

Here's a place to see a sneak peek of your photo session before I'm done editing it and to check for current promotions or contests!

Thanks for stopping by!
